SALSA CERTIFICATION COURSE

The Salsa Certification Course by Tito Ortos is geared to salsa instructors or to those dancers who are thinking of becoming salsa instructors in the future.  The course is also open to those salsa aficionados who would like to delve deeper and learn as much as possible about the art of Salsa.

The course will include both theoretical and practical components and will cover topics such as the history and evolution of Salsa music and dance, musicality and timing, teaching methodology including the Tito Ortos Method
as well as including more advanced lead and follow technique, a full hour of Pachanga and Boogaloo
and an intro to Bomba y Plena.

A written summary of the topics discussed and a certificate of completion will be given to each course attendee.

For those who took the course in 2023,
the History of Salsa is optional.  

First early bird ends May 31st, 2024. Second early bird ends July 31st, 2024.

International Judging Certification Course
Billy Fajardo

The 4-hour certification will be held Wednesday Oct 9th from 7pm-9pm and Monday Oct 14th from 11am to 1pm.

Billy Fajardo's judging certification course immerses participants in the intricacies of Latin dance competitions. Through rigorous training, attendees learn the essential criteria and rules governing judging. The highlight is a simulated judging experience, where participants refine their skills by evaluating performances, ensuring they are well prepared to assess dancers accurately and fairly in real competitions. This certification is critical for anyone interested in judging as well as great for instructors that coach competitors and competitors themselves who want to know the intricate knowledge of what judges are looking for.

About Billy Fajardo: Billy Fajardo is a world-renowned dancer, choreographer, adjudicator and event producer , and has been in the dance world for over 50 years. He began dancing dancing at the age of 14, immersing himself in ballet and jazz studies. In 1978, Billy’s dance company, the Dance Dimensions were discovered by the late Tito Puente while they performed at the Chateau Madrid in New York City, which opened doors to performances alongside Celia Cruz, Marc Anthony, La India, Tito Nieves, and many more. Having earned impressive titles and world championships in Salsa, Latin Hustle, Cabaret, and many others, Billy is a long-time dance school owner in Florida, and the co-owner and producer of The Summit Championship!

2-Hour INTENSIVE program WITH antonio & jasmina, italy

Antonio & Jasmina Berardi are known all over the world for their incredible ability to break down body movement and mambo movements in a concise, descriptive and fun way. They are loved by our congress attendees and will now be teaching their intensive program in Canada!

Fully immerse yourself in the Berardi Style with 2 hours of instruction in a more intimate environment. This intensive will help raise your dance level exponentially and is good for everyone - social dancers, students, performers and masters.

Note: Antonio & Jasmina will be teaching a 1 hour workshop on Saturday and a 1 hour workshop on Sunday as part of the regular workshop schedule and which is included free for anyone with a full pass, performer/competitor pass or day pass.

For the Intenisve Program, an additional fee will apply for the extra 2 hours on Saturday.

2-hour Afrocuban Fusion Intensive Workshop with jorge & indira

2 hours, Sunday Oct. 13th from 10:30am-12:30pm (Room to be announced)
For the first time at the Canada Salsa & Bachata Congress, renowned Cuban dancers Jorge and Indira will be bringing their unique musical interpretation, authentic style and decades of experience to this two-hour intensive workshop. Focus on a fusion of cuban styles and learn  how to incorporate the roots of Afro-Cuban movement into the Salsa we dance today. 

You don't want to miss this special opportunity!
